  • Arts'tination 162 Waterfront Street Oxon Hill, MD, 20745 United States (map)

Join us for a hands-on poetry workshop led by Sistah Joy, inspired by the black & white photography of guest artist Amira Rasayon.

Join us for an intergenerational Ekphrastic Poetry Workshop, where words and imagery intertwine to create moving expressions of art. Facilitated by award-winning poet Sistah Joy, this workshop will explore the poetic response to photography, using Amira Rasayon’s striking black & white visuals as creative prompts.

What to Expect:

Participants will receive guidance on crafting ekphrastic poetry (a type of poetry that uses words to describe a visual work of art, such as a painting, sculpture, or photograph), engage in a creative writing session, and hear insights from Amira Rasayon about the inspiration behind her photography. Selected participants will have the opportunity to share their work at the event.
