Public Art at Shady Glen Fire Station

We are proud to present the newest Public Art installation in Prince George’s County, this powerful glass sculpture at the entrance to the brand new Shady Glen Fire Station, created by Washington Glass Studio!

Standing at approximately 15 feet, the three-sided steel structure titled Community Heroes is cast in the shape of the iconic firefighter’s ladder and clad in handmade cast glass. The colorful glass insets incorporate artistic references to aspects of fire prevention, fire protection, emergency medical services, and the surrounding community.

We were honored to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Shady Glen Fire Station on June 1st! The new facilities are beautiful, sustainable, and, in the words of Fire Chief Tiffany Green, they are a testament to “the successful collaboration and spirit of Prince George’s County”!
