Oasis for the Arts

  • Patuxent Riverkeeper 17412 Nottingham Road Upper Marlboro, MD, 20772 United States (map)

Join PGAHC as we celebrate our 40th anniversary of service for an afternoon of art making, music, and incredible environmental learning experiences. Help create several totems with artist Caryl Henry Alexander, that illustrate the nature and culture of “Oasis Water Stories.” Enjoy the soulful sounds of singer and songwriter BJ Gamble and Company, resonating in the great outdoors of the southern county. Have fun with the whimsical performances by Joanne Flynn! Meet Fred Tutman, as he shares his role as the Patuxent River Keeper, and demonstrates his black smith techniques of metal working in today’s world, as taught by the masters.

After completing the totems, experience a water blessing ceremony and dock procession led by Grandmother Rabiah Nur.
