Thank You for a SPECTACULAR 40th Anniversary Year!
As our 40th Anniversary comes to a close, we are proud to call all of our events and initiatives this year a success! We officially kicked off our Anniversary Signature Events in March, with BSU Does Broadway– partnering with Bowie State University to bring our attendees, including 45 BSU students to New York City for an immersive theater experience to see MJ: The Musical, featuring the unforgettable Bowie State student and now Tony Award recipient Myles Frost in action as Michael Jackson. In April, we hosted the virtual Festival of Literary Arts (FOLA), celebrating the art of poetry and literacy with three days of immersive panel discussions.
Spring also brought the Cherry Blossom Festival to Arts’tination, our flagship gallery location at National Harbor, with a fabulous window installation and a full roster of workshops and programs. We unveiled the Pebble Pop-Up Library, an art-centric library space in partnership with the Prince George’s Memorial Library System. Arts’tination took center stage during Juneteenth, from our celebration at National Harbor Plaza to an exhibition featuring gallery artist Laurence Chandler.
Finally, we ended the year's events with Oasis for the Arts, a healing interactive art experience, celebrating the natural wonders of Southern Prince George’s County. Held at the Patuxent Riverkeeper, attendees painted a totem public art installation by local artist Caryl Alexander, enjoyed carnival games, culminating in a water blessing ceremony at the river.
We are so thankful to every sponsor, partner, artist, and attendee who made all of these events and the ones in between such a success. We can’t wait for all that is to come in 2023, and we hope you'll join us on this next chapter for PGAHC!
