The Prince George's Film Festival was a HIT!
In celebration of our 40th Anniversary, PGAHC & the Prince George's Film Office presented our 2nd Signature Event, the inaugural Prince George’s Film Festival - Take One, a four-day experience from September 22-25th, in partnership with Destination Prince George's and Bowie State University!
We kicked off the festivities Thursday evening (9/22) at MGM National Harbor with a champagne-soaked opening ceremony featuring opening remarks by County Executive Angela Alsobrooks, a riveting discussion with our PGFF Ambassador, actor Chad L. Coleman, as well as an exclusive screening and talkback with local filmmaker Harold Jackson, and the cast of his film "Once Upon a Time in the District"!
The four-day experience continued to captivate our attendees with two full days of industry-led panels (9/23-9/24), ranging from screenwriting, and cinematography, to animation, costuming, and copyright law! Our guests certainly didn't hold back on their questions and we loved to see the interactions between our passionate attendees and speakers. The Sunset Room at National Harbor served as backdrop for the first day of panels and a sun-drenched networking reception! For PGFF Day 3, our panelists took to the stages of Bowie State's Fine & Performing Arts Center.
We closed out PGFF Sunday morning (9/25) with a star-studded Closing Ceremony & Brunch, highlighted by our keynote panel, Revolution in Film featuring Richard & Tina Lawson, Megamind Media's Tressa Smallwood, and moderated by radio personality Russ Parr. The discussion raised important questions about how to tell stories of Black history in new and engaging ways, with incredible insights from all of our keynote speakers.
Thank you so much to all of our attendees, VIPs, speakers, and filmmakers for making this event a success, your presence and enthusiasm brought our vision to life! There's only more in store for the Prince George's Film Festival. So we hope you're ready for TAKE TWO!
