Introducing the 2023 Prince George's County Youth Poet Laureate, Precious Foreman

Fifteen year old Precious Foreman of Landover, MD was named the 2023 Youth Poet Laureate for Prince George's County.

Precious Foreman is an exceptionally talented young poet with a unique voice and perspective. She has demonstrated a deep understanding of the power of poetry to inspire and create change in our community. As Youth Poet Laureate, Precious will serve as an ambassador for poetry and the literary arts, representing Prince George's County at public events and engaging with local youth to promote literacy and creativity.

The 8th Annual Prince George's Youth Poet Laureate Finals was the final, performative phase in determining who would represent Prince George's youth voices through the arts over the next year. The earlier phases which occurred during the fall included an application submission documenting each teen's poetic & community engagement, and an interview phase where applicants can discuss their influences & what initiatives they would pursue as the Youth Poet Laureate.

The Prince George's County Youth Poet Laureate Program is a joint venture of Urban Word of NYC, DIALECT of Prince George’s, and Lyrikal Storm, with support from the Prince George’s Arts & Humanities Council, M-NCPPC Department of Parks & Recreation, the Prince George’s County Office of Community Relations, and generous support from county residents.

We look forward to working with Precious Foreman over the next year as they share their passion for poetry with our community. Please join us in congratulating Precious on this well-deserved honor!
