Grant Money Talks

Artists Meet & Greet Reception

They say a smile and handshake cost nothing. For the artists attending the grants reception, a grip and grin moment may have helped to bring in a few dollars.

Grant recipients awarded for fiscal year 2018 got together to share and celebrate at a reception in June. The Prince George’s Arts & Humanities Council hosted the occasion at Art Works Now in Hyattsville on a perfect Saturday afternoon in June in order to give artists a chance to connect with one another and bond around the joys – and challenges – of getting funded so they can focus on getting the best work done.

Kristina Lyles, Program Manager at PGAHC, was pleased with the turnout of nearly 30 local artists who enjoyed light refreshments. “The meet and greet reception was a success! The artists truly enjoyed meeting one another and discussing their grant projects.”

Conversations ranged from finding new methods to obtain funding and the next grant season to the excitement around new projects around the region.

Please stay tuned for fiscal year 2019 grant information. The grant cycle is scheduled to begin in Fall 2018.
